Conversation Opt In

Very often when I meet with a client for the first time and we start to put together a content game plan, we end up having to discuss the whys of corporate blogging. WHY do they have to blog and WHY is it so important and WHY am I making that face?

Although there are a plethora of reasons, all of them genuinely important and highly beneficial – like increasing revenue and customer satisfaction – the one I usually focus on is, to me, just as important: Blogging means you’re joining the conversation. And that’s really really important in the ever-expanding social matrix of online supply and demand relations.

Would you go to a networking event and just stand in the corner and not make eye contact and never speak to anyone the whole night? How successful would the night be for you if you didn’t put yourself out there and mingle and, you know, network? Not successful at all. In order for you to make new connections which could lead to more business for your company, you need to have conversations with people, face-to-face, on the phone and digitally speaking through a blog.

The clock is ticking and the longer you wait to see if it’s really necessary to have a company blog, the more your company is going to stand out from the crowd in a really bad way.

Do your company and customers a favor and opt in to the conversation.

And how about opting in to this one? I’d love to hear your thoughts about WHY it’s important to take part in this social conversation.
